Internship Opportunities

The Jerry Horton Fellowship is a Fellowship opportunity offered to graduate students through the Master's in Psychological Research Program at Texas State University. Students who receive the Jerry Horton Fellowship complete a two year research initiative with the Seaton Foundation. This initiative offers students a $2,000 scholarship and a 120 hour internship with LiveOak Living Community. It's goal is to promote research in the field of long-term care and cognitive disabilities.

This a 400-hour internship through the Health and Human Performance Program at Texas State focuses on incorporating fitness programs, performance training, or improving health and quality of life to adults with cognitive disabilities.  The Seaton Foundation normally places around two students each semester. Projects completed by these students range from creating physical therapy programs to starting various exercise

The Learning Community for Cognitive Disabilities is a partnership between the Texas State University Department of Psychology, the Seaton Foundation, and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities-Texas Chapter.

It is comprised of Texas State Psychology students who meet on a regular basis and complete a 120 hour internship specializing in cognitive disabilities through education, training, internships, and research opportunities during their junior and senior year at Texas State University. The experiences may also be helpful for students considering careers as direct support professionals or licensed professionals, such as psychologist, counselor, or specialists in school psychology. This program offers 10-12 internship opportunities per semester and has had over 60 interns since it's inception in 2016.
