Seaton Foundation Internship Program
Preparing The Next Generation of Professionals in Long-Term Care
Lasting change in the field of assisted living and cognitive disabilities will only be achieved if it is championed by the next generation of professionals in long-term care. The Seaton Foundation Internship Program is an immersive program for college students interested in the field of cognitive disabilities and long-term care. Interns are placed at assisted living communities in San Marcos and Austin. Current internship sites include LiveOak Living Community, Marbridge, DownHome Ranch, and Belmont Village.
The Seaton Foundation has established several internship programs with Texas State University to educate students about the importance of providing quality care and services to individuals with cognitive disabilities. Currently, the Seaton Foundation has established internships with Psychology, Healthcare Administration, Masters in Healthcare Administration, Sociology, Exercise and Sports Science Professional Health Development and Masters in Psychological Research. Many of the internship programs offered are Service Learning courses, accredited through the Service Learning Excellence Program at Texas State University. This partnership allows for bi-directional opportunities for students to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on experience working in the field.

Psychology
This opportunity is specifically designed to prepare students for a career in long-term care specializing in cognitive disabilities through education, training, research, and internship opportunities during their junior and senior years.
This is a 3 hour credit internship. Students engage in extensive field work in a professional setting.
Healthcare Administration
You will get experiences in providing opportunities for observation, participation, and practical application of administrative or management skills.
Graduate Administration Field Placement
This internship is a semester long, full-time field experience, which provides a limited rotation and special projects.
